Seattle Visitors!

A couple weekends ago, some friends from Seattle were in town. Dave, Luke, Colin, Jake and Matt visited NYC for Memorial Day weekend / Fleet Week. We had a ton of fun and it was fun to have some familiar faces around. I uncharacteristically took very few pictures, so Dave saved the day and donated a few to the cause.

We had a "Brooklyn Day" - the guys met us in the hip and happening neighborhood of Williamsburg. This is the place where the artists and musicians tend to live. Our reason for visiting on this day was the Brooklyn Brewery. We heard good things about this place and it was time to check it out. We had our tasting tokens (6 for $20), which is a very good price.

Is it me or could this be an ad for the Brooklyn Brewery? This is one of those rare group photo moments where not only is everyone looking into the camera, everyone is smiling. Not pictured is the Brooklyn Brewery kitty that was napping/guarding the bags of hops.
We went on the 3:00 pm "tour" - which lasted 15 minutes and took place in a big room full of brewing vats. They actually only brew and bottle the specialty beers there - the bulk of it takes place upstate. Regardless, we were in good company and the brewery itself was very cool and laid back. There are picnic tables set up inside, so you can basically hang out there the whole day, order pizza and have a good time with friends. The folks below did just that and built themselves a wall of cups.

Ethan and Luke on Bedford Avenue. You may want to put on some sunglasses if you plan on looking at this picture for more than a few seconds. The glare from my forehead could permanently damage your eyes without them. And just so you know, while it may not look like it, there actually is hair on top of my head. Also you may notice that Luke's right hand has a brownish tint. No matter how many times he washed it, it always came back. You never know how your body will react to being exposed to our clean New York City air. I'm glad to report all was normal by the next day.

How many people does it take to find the G train? Look at the concentration between Elin and Colin. It looks like they're planning the D-Day invasion. They did eventually find our route and we made our way back to Park Slope for pizza.
The next day, we were in full tourist mode - we went to Times Square and hopped on a double decker bus. The weather was perfect and great for sightseeing. We hopped off in Soho/Little Italy and ate lunch at a sidewalk cafe. It was like we were in Rome! :)

The Flatiron building (or the Daily Bugle in the Spiderman movies)

Home of Project Runway - where's Tim Gunn?

Little Italy for lunch

Colin: lawyer by day, wine connoisseur by mid afternoon

Dave pays homage to Sex in the City. Holy bicep! Dave you know you could work your triceps a little too.

I'll sign off with some other photos from the visit- thanks, Dave for supplying me with these! :)

I never knew Diana Ross had a park. The playground is really old, but it's had a lot of work done and it looks like a totally different park!!

Enjoying the sun in Central Park (there's Matt! Unfortunately, we had a short visit with him, but want to wish him the best of luck in India!)
